Michael Catt has extensive experience of technology innovation and translation, particularly within the field of consumer in-vitro diagnostics and non-invasive technologies for monitoring lifestyle factors, such as diet, physical activity and sleep, for population health research, intervention development and consumer products designed to promote healthy lifestyle.
Background
Michael acquired considerable experience in the development of in-vitro diagnostic systems at Unipath (now Swiss Precision Diagnostics), contributing IP, research and technical development to leading consumer brands for women's health (Clearblue, Clearplan) as well as point of care, rapid diagnostic systems for clinical immunoassay and microbiology.
He now brings his expertise to the National Innovation Centre for Ageing, which focuses on innovators to improve health and wellbeing through life.
He is a member of the senior leadership team for the National Institute for Health Research Innovation Observatory at Newcastle University and a Professor of Practice in Newcastle University’s Faculty of Medicine.

Matt brings 25 years of commercial, marketing and financial expertise from start-up and top-tier companies within Consumer Electronic, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, FMCG and Retail sectors.
Background
Between 2016 and 2021 Matt was responsible for the transfer to manufacture and production of high-volume consumer electronic devices. He worked extensively with Asian contract manufacturers; auditing, approving and setting-up new productions facilities.
Prior to that he spent seven years developing businesses in Healthcare 2.0, where he co-established two consumer healthcare ventures for Philips and founded his own med-tech company.
Matt is an engaging communicator and effective leader of cross-functional development teams able to provide clarity and direction in complex and demanding situations.
Matt has an MBA from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, UK.
